TODAY’S VERSE: Proverbs 14:30
“A sound mind makes for a robust body, but runaway emotions corrode the bones.“ [The Message (MSG) Copyright © 1993, 1994, 1995, 1996, 2000, 2001, 2002 by Eugene H. Peterson]
TODAY’S MESSAGE
In highly-critical times like the ones you and I face today, it is not uncommon to see and experience a sense of chaos, confusion, and in many cases anger and desperation. After all, how are we going to survive the upcoming months and years? How are we going to overcome the current global recession and potential depression in front of our eyes? Where will we be in the next year or so if we lose our jobs, become ill due to stressful factors, or are not able to sustain our families and lifestyles?
All these questions are valid ones; however, dwelling constantly on them can easily trigger emotional responses that can easily lure us into losing faith and hope and taking matters into our own hands. Worse yet, allowing our emotions to control us due to fear and anxiety can very easily lead us into a miserable self-destructive egocentricism –far away from the life we were designed to live and share.
Through a personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ we have the ultimate key to keep our emotions in check. Once we decide to allow God’s love and grace to rule in our hearts, fear and unhealthy stress have no place in us. And I am not speaking without experience in this area. Writing these lines is a broken man who in the last year alone has experienced several big losses but is still standing strong, not because of his own ability to stand, but only because of his deep relationship with The Unmovable and Always-Faithful Almighty God.
Peace above human understanding is God’s promise for you, too. I invite you to make it yours today.
TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for loving me so much to the point of sacrificing your own Son for me. I ask and accept Your forgiveness for trying to manage my life on my own and not trusting that You, my Creator and Provider, have always had my best interest at heart. Thank You for granting me peace through my daily challenges, and for giving me the strength and wisdom to control my emotional responses and live a life worth living. In Jesus’ precious name I pray and rejoice in Your salvation and unending favor, amen.
