TODAY’S VERSE: Revelation 2:7,11,17,29;3:6,13,22

“He that hath an ear, let him hear…” [King James Version is considered Public Domain.]

TODAY’S MESSAGE

One of the things I learned several years ago while refinishing hardwood floors is the need to use ear plugs while managing sanding equipment. The truth is that the noise from these machines is pretty loud –enough to give you a good headache. Moreover, I once read that such noise is harmful to our hearing system and can easily damage it.

During a short break, I remember taking my ear plugs off. Suddenly, everything around me had life! I started listening to many types of birds singing in my yard, and the sound of cars, airplanes, and people talking became evident. It was somewhat fascinating to hear what I was hearing with my own ears. I took a moment to thank God for giving me such a blessing.

In our Christian journey, there are many things that act like ear plugs in our spiritual life, and without even noticing it we can easily lose our “spiritual listening” ability. Things like busy-ness, worries, and pride can easily block our sensitivity toward what really matters in life. But once we take a step of faith and remove those “ear plugs,” our sensitivity toward God, people and circumstances around us suddenly becomes alive, and we find ourselves in the right path.

Let us be sensitive each day to listen to God’s small, still voice, as He provides us daily wisdom and direction. And let us not forget to take time to listen to the needs around us. For this is also a significant part of our spiritual calling on this earth.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for always being there to speak and guide my everyday life. Help me to be sensitive to Your small, still voice, as well as to the hurt and needs of the people I encounter each day. In Jesus’ precious name, amen.
